799 Days/1 Year Old-Lucy's First Year

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LUCILLE SCARLETT!

Birth

• *Born at home on November 25th, 2010 (Thanksgiving) at 1:27pm after eight hours of labor and thirty minutes of pushing.
• *7lbs 13oz and 20 inches long.
• Met her Grandma Sharon for the first time at three days old.
• Met her Great Aunt JoAnn and her Great Uncle Bob at four days old.
• Newborn photos taken by her doula, Cassie.
  

One Month

• Turned one month old on Christmas (her second holiday) with mommy, daddy, and Arianna.
• Celebrated her first New Year's Eve/Day (thought she slept right though it).
• Her first smile.
  
• Took her very first road trip to North Carolina.
• Also took her very first "big" trip to Arizona.
• Met Grandpa Ken, Grandma Leslie, Grandpa Irving, her paternal great grandparents, her great Aunt Shelley, and her Great Aunt Claire for the first time.

Two Months

• Celebrated her second month in AZ with mommy, Arianna, and both sets of grandparents.
• Started "babbling."
• Celebrated her big sister's fourth birthday with her.
• Met her Uncle Tyler for the first time.
• Was held by her Great Grandpa Irv for the first time.
• Went to her first play (and was perfectly good and quiet).
  

Three Months

• Rolled from back to front and front to back.
• Began pushing up on her arms and trying to scoot forward.
• More than doubled her birth weight.
• Made her first baby friends in the neighborhood- Elena, Enolah, Remi, Kayden, and Rowan.
  

Four months

• Celebrated her first Easter.
• Able to scoot around the room.
• Trying to get up on her knees to crawl.
• Started saying "baba" (which eventually turned into "dada").
  

Five months

• Swung on a swing at a park for the first time.
• First trip to the DC zoo.
• Able to get up on all fours in a crawling position.
• Started doing Downward Dog.
• Traded in her swing for a jumperoo.
• Said "dada" for the first time.
• Began sitting assisted.
  

Six months

• Grandpa came to visit!
• Celebrated Memorial Day.
• Went swimming for the first time.
  
• Got her first two teeth (bottom middle incisors)!
• Started crawling.
• Began sitting unassisted.
• Said "mama" for the first time.
• Ate solid for the first time.
• Moved into a convertible carseat.
• Made her first trip to Georgia to visit her doula, Cassie, and her family.

Seven Months

• Celebrated her first 4th of July.
• Started standing and cruising.
• Got her third tooth (top left middle incisor)
• Started signing "milk."
  

Eight Months

• Got her first taste of ice cream.
• Got her fourth tooth (top right middle incisor).
• Took her first unassisted steps.
• Learned how to go up the stairs.
• Threw her first temper tantrum.
• Learned how to use a straw.
  

Nine Months

• Able to take up to ten steps unassisted.
• Ate her first pureed food.
• Started waving "bye bye."
• Started giving kisses.
• Got her fifth and sixth teeth (top left and right incisors).
• Started drinking from a sippy cup.
  

Ten Months

• Walked across the room unassisted.
• Started saying "bye bye" and waving at the same time.
• Learned how to get down the stairs by herself.
• Went to her first pumpkin patch and got her first pumpkin.
• Started drinking from a cup.

Eleven Months

• Walking unassisted.
  
• Got her seventh tooth (bottom left incisor).
  
• Blowing kisses.
  
• Clapping.
• Referring to food as "num."
  
• Celebrated her first Halloween!
  

Twelve Months

• Traveled to AZ for the second time
• Got her eighth tooth (bottom right incisor)
• Celebrated her first birthday with family and friends on the November 19th
• Started pointing at things
• Tried fish for the first time
• Ate cake for the first time
  
• Second Thanksgiving
• Starting to sign "more."
• Playing peek-a-boo.

Lucy- we have had so much fun watching you grow and learn over the past year. From the day you were born to your first smile to your first step, you have made us so happy and proud. Thank you for bringing our family so much joy. We love you so much and we can't wait to see what your next year brings.
