A very special little girl is halfway to her second birthday today!
Happy 18 months, Lucy!
15-16 Months
15-16 Month Milestones:
She made her first trip to New Jersey/NYC! She LOVED FAO Schwartz.
She's been saying "di-duh" which means "sister."
She grabs things and says, "MINE!"
There is a cat that prowls the neighborhood and when she sees it, she points and says, "ca!" She doesn't like it to get too close to her though. If it does, she gets upset.
Whenever she wants something, she asks for "more" even if she hasn't had any to begin with.
She pretends to talk on phones. She holds them up to her ear and says, "Hi!" Buh-bye!"
Beginning of March, Grandma came to visit!
March 20th, she said "pig."
Celebrated her second St. Patrick's Day
Teeth #13 and #14 (both top canines) both broke through around March 21st!
She can identify her eyes nose, and ears.
I'm not sure if it's related to teething, but she really hasn't been a huge fan of food lately. She will take tiny bites of certain things that we're eating, but if we put her in her booster with food on her tray, she will pick at it and throw most of it on the floor and then scream to get out of her chair. She does seem to want to drink a lot of water and it seems like she's always nursing. She's growing so I know that she's obviously getting enough to eat, but she just seems to be really picky.
16 Month Weight/Height:
22 pounds/30 inches
16-17 Months
16-17 Month Milestones:
She knows how to turn on, unlock, and navigate her way around an iPhone as well as find the screen with the games.
She absolutely LOVES being outside.
She took her second trip to the National Zoo in Washington DC on March 26th. Last time she went, she was only about five months old so she really didn't get anything out of it. This time, she was excited to see the animals and had fun running around with her sister and the other kids.
She celebrated her second Easter and got to attend the 2012 Easter Egg Roll at the White House. She was really too young to partake in any of the events, but it's cool that she got to come with us (we got tickets through Jon's squadron and were originally told that tickets would not be given to any child under three. They gave us four ticket though so she was able to go.)
She has FINALLY fallen into a semi-regular nap schedule! One morning nap anywhere between 9am-11am and one afternoon nap anywhere between 1pm-3pm.
March 10th she said, "uh-oh" after dropping a plastic Easter egg and watching it pop open. March 13th, she pointed to her diaper and said, "dee-pa!". She also points to her sippy cup and says, "wa-wa."
Teeth #17 and #18 (bottom canines) have broken through giving her all of the teeth that she will get until the 2 year molars come in!
She can identify her teeth and tongue.
17 Month Weight/Height:
22 pounds/30.5 inches
17-18 Month Milestones:
She says "off" ("ah!") and "out" ("ow") and "ball."
She actually says the word, "no." She's been shaking her head no for months, but now she says it. It's adorable. The way it comes out makes her sound like a meowing cat :)
She can identify and say both "dog" and "cat."
Starting to string words together! She occasionally says, "Here you go" (which comes out "hey go") when she hands you something.
She's been repeating a lot of words lately: cheese, bubbles, baby, bus, and probably more that aren't coming to mind right now. I think her vocabulary is really going to explode over these net 3-6 months. If I remember correctly, between 18-24 months is when Ari really started to talk a lot.
This is a big one.....we're starting to potty train! "Potty learning" is a better term though because we don't plan to push it at all, especially since she's still pretty young. We're going to let her learn on her own as she's ready and we're definitely not taking her out of diapers yet. We purchased a small potty chair to keep in the bathroom and we'll let her sit on it when she wants to. She seems to already have an idea of how things work, but I'm sure it will still take time.
She went and saw Sesame Street Live! This is actually her second live show (I took her to Do Wop Red Riding Hood when she was a few months old), but the first one that she was old enough to enjoy.
May 19th- she took off her diaper and peed in her potty all by herself! We've only had the potty for three days! Yay Lucy!

22 pounds/31 inches (her weight gain has definitely slowed down as she's begun running around more, but she's still growing!)
I'm amazed that we're only six months away from celebrating Lucy's second birthday! She's growing so fast and seems to be learning more and more every day. She's already got quite a personality of her own and she appears to have inherited my lack of patience. She's a lot more active than her sister was at 18 months and loves to explore things. She's also at an age where she's finally able to really interact with Ari and it's so much fun watching them play together. She's not a baby anymore, she's a full blown toddler!
