EASTER PICTURES!!!!!! (finally)
We kicked off Easter on Saturday by visiting the Easter Bunny at the MCX! We ended up being the first in line so we got in and out before the kids got bored or cranky. They also each got a free Easter basket from MCCS with books and some small toys!

Sunday morning we woke up and colored eggs. Normally, we would have done this the night before so that the Easter Bunny could hide them, but we spent Easter Sunday with friends and we did the egg hunt at their house. We told Ari that the bunny hid our eggs at our friends' house.
I wish I could have let Lucy participate in the eggs more, but I was trying to get pictures and keep her from throwing them on the floor and dumping out the dye. Jon ended up at work on Easter so I didn't have him there to help out. She did get to put one in the dye which she threw in so hard that it broke. She thought it was the greatest thing ever though so it was worth one broken egg :)
After we finished the eggs, the girls got their Easter Baskets and enjoyed some chocolate!
Arianna is the only one in the house that really likes to eat boiled eggs so she got to eat all of the ones that we colored. Lucy sampled a little bit and wasn't overly impressed. Although my mistake was probably trying to get her to eat a plain ol' boiled egg after eating chocolate.
We had Easter dinner with some good neighborhood friends. It was great! Lots of good food and a fun egg hunt for the kids :)
This was the only egg she found before she completely lost interest in the hunt, haha. She was just thrilled to be running around outside!
Ari, on the other hand, is an egg hunt pro. She's been doing this since she was Lucy's age and she loves it!

Easter didn't end on Sunday! We were fortunate enough to get tickets to the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll through Jon's squadron for Monday at 1:30pm. It was a great thing to experience and I'm glad that we got to go, but....I'm not convinced that we'll be doing it again or if we do, we'll be doing it very differently!
First, note the outfit. We showed up in our Sunday best because we were under the impression that when you're going to the White House, you dress like a halfway decent person. Imagine our surprise when we showed up and found ourselves surrounded by a lot of people who looked like they had just rolled out of bed and put a jacket on.
The second surprise we encountered was the amount of people who were at this event. We were both under the impression that there would be maybe 1000 people or less who were able to get tickets to this. Haha. Try 30,000. I didn't get any pictures of the crowd or the line, but let's just say we spent about two hours total just waiting in line to get in and that was with the line actually moving most of the time.
We finally got through the line and into the event for the egg roll! Arianna was pretty done with the whole thing by then, but got a little bit more excited when we told her that it was finally her turn! They blew the whistle and everybody started rolling their eggs....except Ari. She stood there waiting for something super exciting to happen!
She finally realized that she needed to go and started rolling her egg....backwards.
Getting a little help, haha! I don't know if she broke the first egg or what happened, but she ended up with a different one. I was really surprised that they used real eggs.
The amount of time that it took you to look at these last four pictures and read the descriptions probably took longer than the egg roll lasted. It was about a 30 second deal. There were other events going on, but after standing in line for so long, we all had sore feet and just didn't feel like waiting around in any more lines. Arianna asked if we could do something more fun so we decided to leave.
The girls did each get a wooden keepsake egg and then had some fun running around in the grass right outside of the White House.
So like I said, I'm glad that we got to experience the egg roll, but if we do it next year, we're go slightly more casual and we'll probably take the train (it took an hour just to find a parking garage that wasn't full). I think I might also choose to leave Lucy behind as she got absolutely nothing out of it and was overwhelmed by the wind and the fact that it was right in the middle of her usual nap time. Overall though, we had a great Easter and we're enjoying Spring!
