The theme for the show was "Broadway" which I thought was kind of cool because Broadway was the theme of my first dance recital when I took dance in junior high.

Arianna's Ballet/Tap class

We bought her an entire page of the program with her photo and a message :)

There she is! Our beautiful little dancer!

Arianna's teacher, Ms. Karen, who I absolutely adore. She is the perfect mix of patient, fun, and disciplined. She is the owner of the studio, but also teaches 20-some classes throughout the week as well as dances in several ensembles and competition teams herself.

Back on stage for the finale!

One more reason that I love Ms. Karen? These girls right here. I didn't know it before today, but SDC offers an Adaptive Dance class
which is a class specifically for kids of all ages with special needs. I've never
heard of another dance studio that offers such a class and seeing those girls up there getting to participate and having so much fun made me just as happy as seeing my own little girl up there dancing her
heart out. So so proud that Arianna is a part of such a wonderful studio.

Everyone from the Matinee show on stage at the very end of the finale. The other thing that I didn't realize about SDC is exactly how many classes are offered. The Matinee show consisted of 29 routines and lasted a little under three hours. The Evening Show is 27 routines and most of them are different from the ones that were performed at the Matinee.

The show was great and I'm already looking forward to next year's recital! We're so proud of Ari and can't wait to see how much she improves in a year. She will be taking three different classes this summer (each class lasts about a month so still only one class per month): Jazz/Acro, Ballet/Tap, and Tap/Jazz. I'm interested to see how she likes Jazz! Ms. Karen described her as a "mover and a shaker" and recommended that we sign her up for at least one Jazz class. I already know she likes Tap and Ballet and she's also willing to give Acro a try. Summer will be a really good opportunity for her to get a feel for several different types of dance and then next year we'll probably have her pick 1-2 classes. My guess is that she's going to want to do Jazz/Tap and a Ballet class on it's own. I'm not sure Acro will end up being a long term interest, but Ari is full of surprises!
We also got the proofs from her professional photos that were taken at the studio:

I'll be ordering copies of both these and the ones that I took from Mpix.com and sending copies out to family as soon as I receive them. We also ordered a DVD of the performance. I'm not sure how long it will take to receive (a couple of weeks I'm guessing), but as soon as I have that, I will see if there is any way that I can get it online since I didn't have a chance to take any video myself. When Ari did The Nutcracker, she did both performances so I took pictures at one and video at the second. This time I only had one shot and I didn't think to ask Jon to take a video on one of the phone (plus he was trying to watch the performance AND keep Lucy quiet and entertained so trying to take a video would have been a challenge). So I will see what I can do about video :)
