597 Days

The girls and I had a long, but really fun day. About a month ago, the housing office set up a day trip to the Washington DC Zoo. I signed us all up and really hoped that Jon would be in town, which he was, but unfortunately he was still not able to make it due to other work obligations. I debated whether or not to take the girls on my own (I mean, a four year old and a five month old with only one adult for seven hours, ehhh......) and decided to go for it. I knew that this was pretty much the only way a zoo trip was going to happen because I'm still too intimidated by DC traffic to brave it on my own.

I packed up the diaper bag the night before so that everything was already ready to go. I got up and ready at 6am, got the girls up and ready at 7am, and we were at the housing office waiting for the bus by 8am. We arrived at the zoo around 9am and headed off to see the animals.

Elephants first! We got a neat video of this one pushing around a concrete ball (which I need to figure out how to upload)

The Kids Farm- this was the easiest place to get good shots of the animals. This was at the very end of the zoo so Arianna was exhausted by the time we got here and wasn't really interested in petting the animals.

The last thing that we saw before Arianna fell asleep in the stroller was the bears.

For some reason the bears were in an entirely different part of the zoo (or so it seemed) and it was quite a long walk to get there and then back. Arianna fell asleep on the way back to the main part of the zoo so we ended up just sitting in the shade until it was time to leave at 3pm. She woke up, nice and refreshed, right before the bus pulled up.

We got home and spent the rest of the evening relaxing after being out walking all day. Arianna wanted me to take some pictures of her playing with one of my birthday balloons and while I had the camera out, I FINALLY caught some pictures of Lucy doing her latest "trick"! She's been doing it here and there for about a week now, but I was never quick enough with the camera to catch it......

Finally got the belly up!
